Astrea is a world most easily analogous to a fantastical version of 17th Century Europe on earth, with some differences related to the particular nature of the fantastical elements present in Astrea. Whilst Astrea is a vast and expansive world with nations as innumerable as they are varied, the contents of this document are most focused on The Empire Of Ohden, though there will be information on other cultures and aspects of the world commented on, though often briefly.

In regards to genre, Astrea is most easily described as a Flintlock Fantasy, with some Steampunk elements due to the existence of a unique metal dubbed Cindersteel. It is technologically advanced in some ways and regressive in others however and some anachronisms from our own history is to be expected.

Astrea is not a ‘Kitchen Sink’ setting, with its cultures, technological levels and ancestries being fundamentally quite focused in the same era, with smaller differences due to resource availability.

With it's relatively low-fantasy and more earthlike expectations of setting, the ancestries available for players are quire limited, presenting only Human and Barrowight, rather than the larger suite of options common in more contemporary settings. Whilst other ancestries exist within setting, these are rare and alien enough to not be considered for Player Characters, such as the Egregore, Eldwights or [[]]
